What’s Medical Travel all about?

It seems only fitting that blog post #1 should start with a clear and guiding intention of why we’re here and who we seek to serve - so here it is.

MedTraveler is founded on the belief that quality medical care shouldn’t have to be so expensive - you just have to know where to look. As a 20+year healthcare executive in private healthcare in USA and Latin America, I’ve seen firsthand how standards of quality of care and patient safety are met by institutions and dedicated healthcare professionals that are committed to providing only the highest level of medical care in the world. Through it all, among cutting-edge technology, world-class facilities, and talented individuals, something left a lasting impression - the cost disparity for quality care among different countries.

The USA is by far the country with the highest expenditure in healthcare in the world - for reasons we could explore in later posts - but ultimately this leaves many hardworking Americans having to delay timely access to care because they simply can’t afford it - or don’t have enough information to find the quality of care they’re looking for, at the right price. Canada also has its share of problems when it comes to access to healthcare - in this case, extended waiting time. Mexico’s healthcare system, with a public sector that provides access to care to 90% of the population, and private hospitals who serve those looking for high quality care - and can afford it through insurance or out-of-pocket (less than 10% of Mexico’s population has health insurance).

So this brings us back to our purpose - this work will serve those seeking quality of care but are not willing to pay unfair prices or delay care.
